Director – Australia
Professor Michael Leigh
Michael Leigh is Professor of Contemporary Asia. His Ph.D. is from Cornell University. Previously he had been the Director of the Asia Institute at the University of Melbourne as well as the Institute of East Asian Studies at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. In addition to this, he has also held the positions of Professor and Head of the Department of Government & Public Administration at the University of Sydney, and was earlier responsible for the Program for the Development of the Social Sciences throughout Indonesian Universities and Islamic Institutes, based in Banda Aceh and Jakarta.

Professor Harold Crouch
Professor Harold Crouch is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Political and Social Change, Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, Australian National University. He obtained his BA from the University of Melbourne, his MA from the University of Bombay and his PhD from Monash University. He taught political science at the University of Indonesia, the National University of Malaysia and the University of the Philippines before joining the Australian National University. His books include Trade Unions and Politics in India (1967), The Army and Politics in Indonesia (1978) and Government and Politics in Malaysia (1996). In early 2000 he established the Indonesia office of the International Crisis Group and served as director of the ICG's Indonesia project until February 2002 when he returned to the ANU.
Program Administrator - Australia
Ms. Linda Poskitt
Linda joined the Aceh Research Training Institute in February 2008 as Program Administrator. Linda has worked as an administrator in universities in Australia and the United Kingdom and for the last 15 years in positions in Asian Studies departments at the Australian National University, University of New England and the University of Melbourne. Linda inherits the well-defined systems and procedures so ably set up by Amber Earles who served as Program Administrator during 2007.
Program Officer – Banda Aceh
Eve Warburton
Eve joined ARTI as the Program Officer in July 2008 through the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD). Eve obtained her BA (Languages) in 2006 from the University of Sydney with Honors in Indonesian and Malay Studies (Class 1). Prior to taking up the position with ARTI, Eve was employed as a tutor in the Asian Studies and Indonesian Studies Departments at the University of Sydney, and as a research assistant on various Southeast Asia-related projects at both the University of Sydney and University of Wollongong.
Office Manager – Banda Aceh
Ms. Meilizar
Ms. Meilizar (Meli) is Office Manager for the ARTI-Banda Aceh office. With ten years' experience as administrative assistant to the Head of the University Syiah Kuala Research Institute, competence in workshop organisation, and involvement with university gender studies programs, her networks and skills are invaluable in running the ARTI program within the university. Meli enjoys working with ARTI because it builds on her experience with research institutes.
